Will my pacemaker/defibrillator set off alarms in airports?
Most people are not affected by these security devices. It is recommended that you walk through the gates, but avoid lingering or leaning on the security equipment. If you begin to feel dizzy or experience rapid or irregular heartbeats, simply move further away from the system and you should return to normal. If the metal around your pacemaker or device sets off an alarm, simply show the airline personnel your pacemaker id card so they can do a wand search or a hand search.
