Greensboro Heart Center

Our physicians all perform procedures at the Greensboro Heart Center, located on the first floor of our Greensboro facility location.  Procedures performed at the heart center include:

Cardiac Catherization:  Cardiac Catherization is a common diagnostic procedure used to diagnose the presence of heart disease.  During the procedure, a long, flexible tube called a catheter is inserted into the arteries that supply blood to the heart.  After insertion, your physician will take multiple pictures of your arteries and heart chambers to determine the presence or absence of heart related problems.  The procedure takes about 30 minutes.

Enhanced Counterpulsation (ECP):  ECP is a non-invasive technique for improving circulation for patients who suffer from stable angina pectoris.  Patients recline on a table and have their calves, thighs and lower waist wrapped in cuffs.  The system increases blood flow to the heart muscle and decreases the heart’s workload.  Benefits include decreased chest pain and increased energy levels.

Sleep Study:  The sleep study is used to diagnose Sleep Apnea, a potentially life-threatening sleep disorder that causes a person to either stop breathing completely or have decreased airflow to the lungs during sleep, and which can contribute to heart disease and other cardiovascular problems.  A sleep study involves spending the entire night at the sleep lab, constantly monitored by the staff to determine if sleep apnea is present.
